Team hotel in Togliatti

The Swiss national team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will be based in Togliatti in the Samara district. The team hotel is located on the outskirts of the city with around 700,000 inhabitants and directly on the Volga River. Training takes place in the Torpedo Stadium 10 minutes by bus away.

The main playing field of the current Russian third division team FK Lada Togliatti and the infrastructure of the stadium will undergo extensive renovation until the arrival of the Swiss delegation (expected on 11 June 2018). All work is closely monitored by FIFA, so that the Swiss national team should find optimum working conditions right from the start. As part of this work, the playing field, the changing rooms and the media centre in particular, will be renovated.

Players, coaches and staff will stay at the "Togliatti Resort", which will be exclusively available to the Swiss delegation of 55 for the duration of the World Cup finals. The four-star hotel has spacious rooms in the main building and on Volga Bay, a sandy beach, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and a gym.

The region's sporting flagship is the ice hockey club HK Lada Togliatti, which plays in the Russian top league KHL.

Economically, Togliatti lives mainly from the automotive industry and mechanical engineering. Summer temperatures average just over 20 degrees Celsius and rainfall is rare.

The Kurumoch Airport of Samara, about 45 minutes by bus from Togliatti will be used to fly to the matches by the Swiss National team.

Switzerland will play Brazil (in Rostov-on-Don, 1:35 hours away) in World Cup Group E on 17 June 2018, Serbia (in Kaliningrad, 2:45 hours away) on 22 June 2018 and Costa Rica (in Nizhny Novgorod, 0:55 hours away) on 27 June 2018. All games will take place at 20.00 CET. The time difference between Switzerland and the Samara region is two hours in summer.
