Other important principles

The assumption that it is not corruption or match-fixing, if you do not receive money or gifts, or if it's an unimportant game or a friendly, is wrong. The idea that you can place bets on football games, in which you are not involved yourself, is equally wrong.

The continuous improvement in the technical possibilities for monitoring matches leads to an already very high risk of being caught and severely punished. The following important principles also apply to you as a player, trainer, referee, official, etc.:

  • It is prohibited to fix a football match, even if you receive no money or gifts for it.
  • It is forbidden to fix even minor details of a football match (yellow or red cards, throw-ins, corners, etc.), even if the final score of the match is not directly affected by it.
  • It is prohibited to fix a football match, even if it's an unimportant match.
  • It is forbidden to place bets on football matched either directly yourself or indirectly through relatives, friends, etc.
  • It is forbidden to reveal inside information, even if you do not bet (e.g. about the line-up of your team).

Also violations of these principles can carry drastic penalties such as e.g. years-long bans as a consequence. As the following video for Omar Pape Fayé emphatically shows, it can end your career.
